Tuberculin test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012341
A diagnostic procedure used to detect latent or active tuberculosis infection by assessing the immune response to tuberculin antigens. A small amount of tuberculin is injected intradermally, and the site is examined for induration (a raised, hardened area) after 48 to 72 hours. A positive reaction indicates prior exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
