Patch test

A diagnostic procedure used to identify substances that cause allergic contact dermatitis. Small amounts of suspected allergens are applied to the skin, usually on the back, under occlusive patches. The skin is then examined after 48 to 96 hours for signs of an inflammatory reaction, such as redness, swelling, or blistering.
