Arthus reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000808
A localized type III hypersensitivity reaction characterized by tissue necrosis resulting from the formation of immune complexes in the blood vessel walls. This reaction occurs when a high concentration of antigen is injected into an individual who has pre-existing antibodies. It typically manifests as localized edema, hemorrhage, and necrosis within hours of antigen exposure.
