Artifact
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000809
An observation or result that is not naturally present but arises from the experimental or observational procedure itself. In chemical analysis, this can include spurious peaks in a chromatogram or unexpected signals in a spectrum. Artifacts can lead to misinterpretation of data if not properly identified and accounted for.
