Delayed onset
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013025
The photon energy in an X-ray absorption spectrum at which absorption rises markedly when that energy lies above the core-level binding energy instead of at it, so the edge appears displaced to higher energy than the simple ionization threshold. It contrasts with a sharp edge, where absorption steps up at the binding energy itself.
