X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012751

A spectroscopic technique that examines the fine structure in the X-ray absorption spectrum within approximately 50 eV above an absorption edge. It is highly sensitive to the oxidation state, coordination geometry, and local electronic structure of the absorbing atom. This method is a component of X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy and is often used to characterize catalysts and materials.
