Synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011752

A group of analytical techniques that use the high-flux, tunable, and polarized X-ray radiation produced by a synchrotron light source to probe the electronic and structural properties of matter. These methods provide information on elemental composition, chemical states, and local atomic structure by measuring the absorption, emission, or scattering of X-rays by a sample. Techniques include X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), each offering distinct insights into material properties.
