Latent period
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006474
The interval between the initial exposure to a toxic agent or stimulus and the first observable manifestation of an adverse effect. During this time, biochemical or physiological changes may be occurring without overt clinical signs. The length of the latent period can vary significantly depending on the toxicant, dose, and individual susceptibility.
