Maximum latent period
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013265
The longest interval after the last exposure to a chemical agent beyond which a later illness can no longer reasonably be attributed to that exposure. It is counted from the final exposure to the first appearance of signs or symptoms in an exposed person, and it is used when judging whether a disease is causally linked to a past exposure. For some carcinogens the interval can run to several decades.
