Maximum likelihood estimation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007051
A statistical method for estimating the parameters of a model by finding the parameter values that maximize the likelihood function. This function quantifies how probable the observed data are for a given set of parameter values. In toxicology, it is used to fit dose-response models, such as the probit or logit models, to experimental data to determine values like the median lethal dose (LD50).
