Subclinical effect

A biological change or disease state that is not yet severe enough to produce overt clinical signs or symptoms detectable by routine examination. These effects can only be identified through specific diagnostic tests or biomarkers. An example is a slight elevation in liver enzymes without any outward signs of liver damage.
