Disease
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003290
An impairment of the normal state of a living organism that interrupts or modifies the performance of its functions, characterized by a set of identifiable signs and symptoms. In toxicology, a disease is a pathological condition resulting from exposure to a chemical, physical, or biological agent. This contrasts with an injury, which is damage caused by acute trauma, although some toxic exposures can cause both immediate injury and long-term disease.
