Lesion

Any structural or functional change in a tissue, organ, or part of an organism resulting from disease or injury. In toxicology, lesions are caused by exposure to a chemical substance and can range from microscopic cellular damage to macroscopic changes like tumors or necrosis. The location, size, and character of a lesion are key endpoints in assessing the toxicity of a compound.
