Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011508
An adverse biological effect resulting from repeated or continuous exposure to a chemical for a duration that is intermediate between acute and chronic exposure periods. It represents a substantial fraction of an organism's lifespan but not the majority of it. In standard toxicological testing with rodents, a subchronic study involves exposure for 90 days, whereas a chronic study lasts for up to two years.
