Chronic toxicity
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-000753
The adverse effects resulting from long-term or repeated exposure to a substance, often at low doses. Unlike acute toxicity, which manifests quickly after a single exposure, chronic toxicity develops over an extended period, potentially months or years. In environmental liability and workers' compensation insurance, chronic toxicity claims can arise from continuous exposure to pollutants or hazardous materials, leading to delayed onset diseases.
