Replicate sampling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010196
The process of collecting two or more independent samples under conditions as similar as possible from the same material or population at the same time and location. This procedure is performed to assess the variability associated with the sampling process itself and the inherent heterogeneity of the material being sampled. Analysis of replicate samples provides a quantitative measure of precision, which is often expressed as the standard deviation or relative standard deviation of the results.
