Systematic sampling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011781
A method of selecting samples from a larger population according to a fixed, periodic interval. After a random starting point, subsequent samples are chosen at regular intervals from an ordered list or sequence. This approach provides a representative sample across a spatial or temporal domain, such as collecting water samples every 10 meters along a river transect.
