Morse potential
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007585
A mathematical model used to describe the potential energy of a diatomic molecule as a function of the internuclear distance. It accounts for both the attractive and repulsive forces between atoms, providing a more realistic representation than a simple harmonic oscillator. The Morse potential includes parameters for bond dissociation energy, equilibrium bond length, and anharmonicity.
