Equilibrium distance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004060

The internuclear separation between two atoms in a molecule at which the potential energy is at a minimum. This distance represents the most stable bond length for a diatomic molecule or a specific bond within a polyatomic molecule. It is a fundamental parameter in molecular spectroscopy and quantum chemistry.
