Mean-square radius of gyration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007086
The average of the square of the distance of each segment of a polymer chain from its center of mass, averaged over all possible conformations. This quantity is a fundamental measure of the spatial dimensions of a polymer coil. It can be determined experimentally using light scattering or small-angle neutron scattering.
