θ temperature
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011912
The specific temperature at which a polymer in a given solvent behaves as an ideal chain, meaning the polymer-solvent and polymer-polymer interactions are balanced. At this temperature, the second virial coefficient of the polymer solution is zero. The theta temperature is a characteristic property for a given polymer-solvent system.
