Osmotic coefficient
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008351
A dimensionless quantity that measures the deviation of the colligative properties of a real solution from those of an ideal solution, particularly related to osmotic pressure and vapor pressure lowering. It accounts for the non-ideal behavior of solutes due to intermolecular interactions. For an ideal solution, the osmotic coefficient is equal to one.
