Raoult’s law

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009927

A principle stating that the partial vapor pressure of each component in an ideal mixture of liquids is equal to the vapor pressure of the pure component multiplied by its mole fraction in the mixture. This law applies to ideal solutions where intermolecular forces between different components are similar to those between identical components. Deviations from Raoult's law indicate non-ideal behavior, which can be positive or negative.
