Ideal dilute solution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005572
A dilute solution in which the solvent obeys Raoult's law and the solute obeys Henry's law, so solute-solute interactions are negligible and the solute activity coefficients can be taken as one. The solute activity is then proportional to its mole fraction or concentration, with a constant that depends on the particular solute and solvent. Real solutions approach this behavior only as the solute concentration tends to zero.
