Ideal gas
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005573
A theoretical gas composed of randomly moving point particles that do not interact with each other except through elastic collisions. This model simplifies the behavior of real gases by assuming negligible volume for the particles and no intermolecular forces. The ideal gas law, PV = nRT, describes the relationship between pressure, volume, temperature, and the number of moles for such a gas.
