Solvophobicity parameter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011039
A solvent parameter that rates how strongly a solvent promotes solvophobic effects, defined as one minus the ratio of the solvent's slope M to the slope for hexadecane. The slope M comes from a linear relation between the Gibbs energies for moving several solutes out of water into the solvent and a solute-specific parameter. The scale runs from 1 for water to 0 for hexadecane, with aqueous-organic mixtures between them.
