Leffler’s relation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006511
An empirical linear relation between the changes in Gibbs energy of activation and the changes in standard Gibbs energy of reaction across a series of related elementary reactions, with slope alpha. The slope, usually between 0 and 1, measures how closely the transition state resembles the products, and it underlies the Leffler-Hammond view that strongly exergonic steps have early, reactant-like transition states.
