Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011040

A curve on a phase diagram that delineates the boundary of a single-phase solid solution field from a region where two or more solid phases coexist. It indicates the maximum solubility of one component in another in the solid state at different temperatures. Below the solvus, the solid solution separates into multiple distinct phases.
