Peritectoid reaction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008658

An invariant reaction in a phase diagram where two solid phases react isothermally to form a new, different solid phase upon cooling. This reaction occurs at a specific temperature and composition, where three solid phases coexist in equilibrium. It is analogous to a peritectic reaction but involves only solid phases.
