Eutonic reaction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004124

A reversible dissolution process in a system with three or more components, in which the liquid phase is saturated with all of its dissolved solutes at the same moment, so several solubility equilibria coexist. In a ternary system, fixing the temperature and pressure fixes the eutonic point completely, and the solvent's chemical potential is at a minimum there. Eutonic points have been located only in aqueous systems, for example Na2SO4 + CuSO4 + H2O.
