Dystonic reaction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003536

A reversible dissolution process, at constant temperature and pressure, in a system of at least three components whose solution is saturated with a stoichiometric compound formed from two or more of them, for example a hydrated double salt. The solvent's chemical potential and vapour pressure both peak at the dystonic point. Only water-based systems, for example Na2SO4 + CuSO4 + H2O, are so far known to show dystonic points.
