Saturation vapour pressure
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010532
The maximum pressure that water vapor can exert at a given temperature when it is in thermodynamic equilibrium with its condensed phase (liquid water or ice). This pressure increases significantly with temperature, as more water molecules possess sufficient energy to escape into the gaseous phase. It is a fundamental property in meteorology and atmospheric chemistry, influencing cloud formation and humidity.
