Eutrophic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004125
Describing a body of water, such as a lake or pond, that is rich in nutrients, particularly nitrates and phosphates. This high nutrient content often leads to excessive growth of algae and aquatic plants, known as an algal bloom. Eutrophic conditions can result in oxygen depletion in deeper waters, harming aquatic life.
