Eutrophy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004127
The condition of a body of water being highly enriched with nutrients, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus. This abundance of nutrients supports a high level of primary productivity, often leading to dense algal growth and aquatic vegetation. Eutrophy can result in decreased water clarity and oxygen depletion in bottom waters.
