Littoral

Relating to the zone of a body of water that is near the shore, extending from the high-water mark to the point where sunlight no longer penetrates the bottom. This region is characterized by abundant light, nutrient availability, and often a rich diversity of aquatic life. In marine environments, it is also known as the intertidal zone.
