Litter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006707
The total number of offspring produced by a multiparous animal, such as a rodent, during a single pregnancy and birth event. In developmental and reproductive toxicology studies, parameters such as the number of live and dead pups per litter at birth are recorded. These data are used to assess the effects of a test substance on fertility, gestation, and neonatal viability.
