Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012560
The capability of a cell, organism, or fetus to live, grow, and develop independently after being removed from its maternal environment. In developmental toxicology, it specifically denotes the capacity of a fetus to survive outside the uterus after birth, whether premature or at full term. Fetal viability is often legally and medically defined by gestational age or weight, with a common threshold being around 23 to 24 weeks of gestation.
