Breathing zone

The atmospheric region immediately surrounding a person's nose and mouth, from which they inhale air. This zone is typically defined as a hemisphere with a radius of 30 centimeters extending in front of the face. Measurements of airborne contaminants within the breathing zone are used to assess an individual's exposure to hazardous substances.
