Breakthrough volume
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001489
The volume of sample that can be passed through an adsorbent bed or column before the analyte of interest begins to elute at a detectable concentration. It indicates the capacity of the adsorbent for a specific analyte under given experimental conditions. This volume is a key parameter in solid-phase extraction and gas chromatography.
