Ternary system
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011881
A chemical system consisting of three distinct components, which can be elements or compounds. The composition and phase behavior of such a system are functions of temperature, pressure, and the relative proportions of the three components. The compositions of ternary systems are graphically represented using a triangular plot, such as a Gibbs triangle, where each vertex represents a pure component and points within the triangle represent mixtures.
