Long-range intramolecular interaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006766
An attractive or repulsive force between non-bonded atoms or groups that are far apart along the same polymer chain, but brought into proximity by the chain's conformation. These interactions influence the overall shape and properties of a macromolecule in solution or in the solid state. Examples include interactions between distant segments of a folded protein.
