Long-lived collision complex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006765
An intermediate species formed during a chemical reaction when two reactant molecules collide and remain associated for a period significantly longer than a typical molecular vibration. This complex can undergo internal energy redistribution before dissociating into products or reforming reactants. Its existence implies a deep well on the potential energy surface.
