Collision complex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002219
A transient species formed when two or more molecules collide and remain in close proximity for a short period, allowing for energy transfer or chemical reaction. This complex exists for a duration longer than a typical molecular vibration but shorter than a stable intermediate. It is a precursor to product formation in many gas-phase reactions.
