Collision reaction cell

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002228

A specialized chamber in a mass spectrometer where analyte ions interact with a reactive gas, leading to ion-molecule reactions or collision-induced dissociation. This cell enhances selectivity and sensitivity by converting interfering ions into non-interfering species or by generating characteristic product ions. It is a variant of a collision cell designed for specific chemical transformations.
