Retrograde solubility
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010304
A phenomenon where the solubility of a solute in a solvent decreases as the temperature increases, contrary to the more common behavior of increasing solubility with temperature. This behavior is often observed in gas-liquid systems or in certain polymer solutions. It is a key consideration in processes such as supercritical fluid extraction.
