Retroperitoneal

Describing the anatomical space and the organs situated within it, located behind the peritoneum in the abdominal cavity. Structures in this region are not suspended by mesentery and lie against the posterior abdominal wall. The kidneys, adrenal glands, and pancreas are examples of retroperitoneal organs.
