Mesenteric lymph node

A type of lymph node located within the mesentery, the fold of peritoneum that attaches the intestine to the posterior abdominal wall. These nodes filter lymph from the gastrointestinal tract, playing a part in immune surveillance against ingested pathogens and antigens. They are a key component of the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT).
