Salting in
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010489
The phenomenon where the solubility of a sparingly soluble substance in a solvent is increased by the addition of a salt. This effect is often observed with proteins and other macromolecules at low salt concentrations. The increased solubility is attributed to the reduction of the activity coefficient of the solute.
