Solubility constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011011
An equilibrium constant that extends the solubility product to cases where the dissolved solute also includes undissociated salt or uncharged ion pairs, where species in solution react with an ion of the solid, or where a gas takes part in the equilibrium. For a sparingly soluble salt without such complications it reduces to the solubility product, the product of the ion activities each raised to its stoichiometric coefficient.
