Adsorption complex

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000285

A transient or stable association formed between an adsorbate molecule and an active site on the surface of an adsorbent. This complex represents the intermediate state during the adsorption process, where the adsorbate is bound to the surface through physical or chemical forces. Its formation is a key step in heterogeneous catalysis.
